The morphing portals in Geometry Dash are a real challenge. One shot and the gameplay changes. Not fast enough? Say goodbye to your score!
If you've ever played Geometry Dash and thought, "Oh, this game is just a simple tap and jump game," then you haven't been through the gates of fate. They're not the gates of heaven, nor are they the escape gates. They're where your character changes shape, control, speed, and... sending you into a slight mental shock. You pass through the gate in one go, and before you know who you are, you're already crashing into an obstacle.
In Geometry Dash, the gate is the only thing you shouldn't "go straight through" with a relaxed attitude. Because in the blink of an eye, your character will transform into a completely different entity: from a simple jumping block to a free-flying ship, from a click to a crazy chain of clicks. That makes everything you've just gotten used to useless in just a split second. You're controlling the cube well, then it suddenly turns into a wave, having to zigzag continuously. Can't adapt in time? Game over.
The difficulty lies in the fact that, not only do you transform, but you also have to immediately adjust the corresponding control style. From tapping to holding the mouse continuously, from jumping low to jumping high, from gliding to spamming at high speed. Just a little bit slow in "switching your brain", you will find yourself back at the starting point in less than a second.
Every time you go through the gate, you do not have any instructions. The game does not give you time to get used to or practice, it directly throws you into a new situation and expects you to survive by instinct. This is what makes Geometry Dash interesting - and also painful. You have to remember every shape, understand every control, and react correctly every moment. One wrong beat and all the previous progress disappears like stardust.
Don't let your high score fool you. The gate will appear right when you are at your highest point, and if you are not alert enough, it will pull you down to the ground in the most cruel way. The gate won't kill you, but it will force you to do it yourself if you don't have the reflexes.
